Fix failed uploads
Work through the causes one by one: file size, format, rate limits, full storage, and more
The error message always states the cause — match it against the sections below.
"File exceeds the maximum size"
- Guests and Free: up to 10 MB per file · Pro/Business: 25 MB
- Fastest fix: run it through the optimizer (/optimize) first, or use /workflow which compresses and hosts in one step
"Unsupported file type"
- Supported: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, APNG, BMP, TIFF
- iPhone HEIC/HEIF is not supported yet — set Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, or convert to JPG first
- Detection uses the real file bytes — renaming the extension will not help
"Too many uploads" (429)
Frequency limits: guests 30/hour, members 120/hour (API limits follow your plan). Wait a bit and retry, or sign in for the higher limit.
"Storage full"
- 1Check usage at Dashboard → Billing
- 2Delete unused images (note: trashed images still count until permanently purged)
- 3Or upgrade for more space (Pro 20 GB / Business 200 GB)
Other possible causes
- "Cannot read the image file" — the file is corrupted; re-export it from the source app
- "Image dimensions too large" — over 64 megapixels or a side over 16,384 px; downscale first
- "This file has been blocked by moderators" — the file matches a banned entry; contact us if you believe this is a mistake
- Upload hangs midway — check your connection, then try a single file to isolate the problem
Tip: Still stuck? Contact us with the error message plus the file type and size — it speeds up diagnosis a lot.
